Technology for student accommodation in Manchester
Manchester student accommodation runs on a short, brutal calendar. Buildings fill in days at the start of term, every resident arrives with several devices, communal areas are in constant use, and staff spend weeks answering the same three questions about Wi-Fi, door entry and the cinema room. Technology specified for a quiet office does not survive that. We design for it.
What we do on Manchester student accommodation sites
- Wi-Fi and connectivity across every floor, not just reception, including the uplink, because a full building on one contended line is the root of most September complaints
- Structured cabling and network design, planned rather than retrofitted around existing containment
- Access control and door entry, supplied, installed and repaired, including systems we did not install
- CCTV on entrances, communal areas and service corridors
- Communal AV, including cinema rooms, and their repair and maintenance
- Day-to-day I.T. support for the staff who run the building, including Microsoft 365
Based in Manchester, so we are already here
We are based at The Watts Building on Lever Street in Manchester, and we hold engineers locally in the areas we cover rather than dispatching them from one office. Manchester sites get an engineer who is local, and so do London sites. We also work across the North West and nationwide, including London.
Door entry, access control and CCTV cover the detail behind each system.
Part of a nationwide picture
Our student accommodation work runs across four cities — Manchester, Sheffield, London and Cardiff. No building or operator is ever named. The Manchester page explains what we do here; the nationwide page explains the sector.

Before the September intake
A building that fills in days is not the moment to discover the uplink cannot carry it, or that the door entry routing will not handle a hundred arrivals at once. We would rather be on site in the quiet months, working around the building's access and occupancy, than firefighting in September. Structured cabling and UniFi networks are usually where that starts.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work on student accommodation in Manchester?
Yes, we are based in Manchester and work on buildings across the city and the surrounding area, as well as nationwide.
Can you repair a door entry system in a Manchester student building?
Yes, and it does not need to be a system we installed. Failed panels, handsets, readers, power supplies, locks and controller faults are all work we take on. Most door entry faults are local to one component rather than the whole system, and a structured fault assessment says which.
How quickly can you get to a site in Manchester?
We are based in Manchester and hold engineers locally, so attendance does not depend on an engineer travelling in. Support we provide carries a four-hour response SLA, in Manchester and everywhere else we cover.
Do you only work on new-build student accommodation?
No. We work on new schemes, on buildings being refurbished, and on buildings in use where the technology has to be improved without closing the building.
Can you help before the September intake?
Yes, and the earlier the better. Connectivity, door entry, CCTV and communal AV interact, so planning them together before the summer is far cheaper than fixing them in September while residents are moving in.
Do you work on build-to-rent and multi-tenant buildings too?
Yes. The technology requirements are similar: reliable Wi-Fi, controlled access and door entry, CCTV and communal space AV.
